Filmmaker Websites publishes practical guides and free browser tools for independent filmmakers and AI filmmakers. The focus is the work around the film: teasers, festival submissions, sound, promotion, and the craft problems that come with new AI video tools.
The history of this domain
From roughly 2010 to 2021, this domain was home to Filmmaker Websites (FMWS), a service that built websites for filmmakers. Many independent film sites from those years carried a "Site by FMWS" credit. If you arrived here following one of those credits, that is the service you were looking for.
We want to be plain about this: the current site is not that company. We are not affiliated with FMWS, we did not build those client sites, and we cannot offer support for them. We respect the work FMWS did for filmmakers over more than a decade, and we chose to keep the name because the purpose is close to the original one: helping filmmakers get their work in front of an audience.
Who publishes this site
This site is published by the team behind ViceForge, an AI tool that turns long videos into short clips. Some guides mention ViceForge where it genuinely helps, for example when you want to turn a finished film or trailer into vertical teasers. We say so plainly when a guide links to it, and the guides are written to be useful whether or not you ever use it.
How we write
- Platform rules, festival rules and AI tool features are taken only from official pages, and we link to them in the text.
- If we cannot verify something, we leave it out rather than guess.
- We do not publish invented statistics, quotes or prices.
- Dates matter: when a guide says "as of October 2026", check the linked page before you rely on it, because tools and rules change.
